The Cobalt Syndicate

The dominant criminal syndicate in Procyon. Pragmatic, profit-driven, and surprisingly well-organized. They've survived by staying out of political conflicts — until now.

Agenda: Sell the Signal

The Syndicate doesn't believe in the Ur signal's religious significance or military value. They believe it can be bottled and sold — to the Hegemony, to the Cult, to anyone willing to pay. Multiple competing factions means a bidding war.

Key Figures

  • Broker Ashek — the crew's main point of contact. Smooth, reliable, won't burn a source if they're profitable.

  • Director Maron — mid-level Syndicate, actual decision-maker. Never meets anyone directly.

  • The Starfall — a rival crew working Syndicate contracts. Will appear in Break the Dock.

How They Interact With the Crew

  • The Syndicate gives work. The Syndicate extracts value. They're not friends.

  • Status starts neutral-positive if crew takes their jobs.

  • If crew discovers they're playing multiple factions, expect betrayal.

Clock: Syndicate Deal

4 segments. Fills when the Syndicate successfully brokers a deal, secures an artifact, or plays factions against each other. When full: The Syndicate sells to the highest bidder. The sector shifts permanently.
