Character Backstory Builder

Not every backstory needs to be fully formed at session zero — leave room to discover things in play. A few prompts to get started:

• Why are you in Athens in 1242 CE? A local resident, someone sent by your sire, a refugee from elsewhere in the Duchy — pick something that gives you a reason to stay entangled rather than skip town.

• What's your relationship to the Triumvirate? Have you met Dionysius, Democritus, or Olympias? Do you owe one of them anything?

• Where do you sit relative to Elysium? Domain-holder, hopeful climber, or someone who's never set foot in Cecropia?

• What's your Touchstone, and why them specifically (see Character Creation Basics)?

• Pick a Chronicle Tenet lens — Athenian, Conspiracy, or write your own — even loosely, to know what your character would never do.

Don't forget to look at Athens, Clans & Bloodlines of Greece, and the rest of the wiki's Locations for ideas if you're stuck — a lot of backstory hooks fall out of picking a city of origin or a clan's local politics.
